Maurizio Bavutti is a professional photographer based in Italy. His interest in photography began during his film studies in Spain. Since then, he has worked with film photography, in both color and black and white, creating portraits and landscapes, developing a romantic and nostalgic vision of the contemporary world. After completing his media studies, he moved to London in 2006, where he pursued postgraduate studies in photography at the University of the Arts. In 2013, he moved to New York, where he developed a keen interest in the "straight photography" movement, founded by pioneers of American photography such as Alfred Stieglitz, Paul Strand, and Ansel Adams. Recently, Maurizio returned to Italy to further his research and photographic studies of his native country. His work has been exhibited at the Milan Triennale, the Armani Silos Art Foundation, Paratissima Torino, and ArtCity Bologna.
Inspired by straight photography, an early 20th-century American art movement, Maurizio Bavutti creates silent and nostalgic landscapes, both familiar and grandiose, beautiful like paintings.
